Client Project Profile: Simplify with Eileen
“I never in a million years could have brought my vision of my company to life without the expert guidance, kind support and creative ideas that Trish brings to the table. She had so many great ideas and is extremely knowledgeable, especially in terms of capitalizing on the social media world. Trish’s enthusiasm is contagious, she genuinely loves what she does and it shows. I am so grateful to have been able to work with a real marketing craftsperson like Trish.”

Simplify with Eileen

Eileen Kelly Reed is a business woman with a great business idea.  Armed with enthusiasm and a business plan, she prepares to take on the world of chaos and clutter on behalf of her clients.  After a soft launch of her business as The Organizational Coach, Eileen reworked her service offerings and rebranded her business as Simplify with Eileen.  Since her services involve her clients entrusting her to become entrenched in their lives as she assists them, including her name in her brand was a great personal touch.  You hire Eileen and you “simplify with Eileen.”

Individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit may not yet have the resources (time and money) to launch an effective marketing campaign to tell the world that they are open for business!

At Gillis Marketing, we enjoy working with passionate people as they launch their business and build their brand.  This is the story of how we worked with Eileen Reed to create a quality execution of her business launch, Simplify with Eileen.

Project Scope
Gillis Marketing worked with Eileen to develop a roadmap of brand development for Simplify with Eileen.

  • Logo Design
  • Business Cards Design
  • Invoice and Worksheet Templates
  • Facebook Business Page
  • Website Design
Design Logo and Develop Color Palette
Eileen shared examples of what she liked (and disliked) from other brands, websites, and photographs to effectively communicate her intended look and feel for her business.  One example was an Ann Taylor flyer she received in the mail with colors that appealed to her.  The colors should soothe the viewer.  Therefore, we avoided saturated colors that would be a distraction.
Eileen helps clients become organized and works alongside her clients as they tackle seemingly overwhelming projects.  She wanted a logo that conveyed simple, but not plain.  Ultimately, she chose a horizontal logo with a graphic to the left that represented space and order:

Business Cards
For the rollout of the rebranded business, Eileen needed business cards immediately upon completing the logo.  Gillis Marketing designed a horizontal card for Eileen which included the logo for NAPO – National Association of Professional Organizers, an important differentiator for her business.

Simplify Business Cards

For high quality, digitally printed business cards, Gillis Marketing uploaded the approved artwork to VistaPrint.  They often have specials for business card orders and the results are fantastic.

Invoice and Worksheet Templates
Gillis Marketing designed an invoice and worksheet template in Microsoft Word for Simplify with Eileen that complement each other and consistently promote a strong brand presence throughout Eileen’s interactions with her clients.

Facebook Business Page
When developing a marketing strategy to promote a launch of a new business or service, there are many tactics involved in the marketing plan execution – and Eileen Reed still had to actually run the business.  Gillis Marketing recommended a Facebook Business Page as the next step for three major reasons:

  1. Promote Simplify with Eileen online during the website content development (no delay in promoting the business)
  2. Create a community of Simplify with Eileen fans Eileen could communicate with regularly
  3. Build trust with the community for business referral opportunities, including utilizing Facebook’s “Reviews” application

As a business that is personal, using social media to promote the service is a fantastic vehicle.  Clients that engage Simplify with Eileen engage Eileen herself.  Facebook offers Eileen the opportunity to promote her thought leadership in her area of expertise.

Gillis Marketing created the Facebook Business Page for Simplify with Eileen with several features to differentiate it from other Pages:

1.  Customized username:  when Simplify with Eileen reached 25 fans, we created a customized username address for Eileen to promote: http://www.facebook.com/simplifywitheileen

2.  Designed a Static FBML “billboard” for first time visitors to introduce Simplify with Eileen’s services (Note: Static FBML will no longer be available to new pages as of March 10, 2011.  However, Gillis Marketing will continue to offer this feature with iframe Tabs):

3.  Designed a Profile Picture that conveniently promoted the phone number (1) for the viewer, but looked good when Facebook automatically shrunk it for updates (2):

Website Development
As a small business owner looking to have a web presence, consider the following:

  1. Will I be able to make basic content changes myself?
  2. Will I be able to use Google Analytics to track the traffic to my site to learn more about my visitors (which pages are visited most often, which keywords are used by the people that find my site, how do people get referred to my site, and more)?

Website Design and Implementation with WordPress as CMS
Gillis Marketing designed the website for Simplify with Eileen using WordPress, a popular blog publishing application.  WordPress allowed us to provide Eileen with a content management system (CMS)  to update her own site without having to engage a developer every time.

The theme behind simplifywitheileen.com is PureType from Elegant Themes.  Gillis Marketing holds a developer’s license to use the theme.  The original theme looked like this:

… and customized looks like this:

Simplify with Eileen Website

Gillis Marketing customized the theme to include an emphasized Search feature, a table on the home page with links to Simplify with Eileen’s services, a Contact Us form that directly emails Eileen any inquiries and a photo gallery page for before & after photos as Eileen continues to develop her content.  The permalinks, headers, page titles and copy are written with long-tail keywords -  important to Simplify with Eileen for search engine optimization.

Gillis Marketing installed the Google Analytics Plugin for WordPress and opened a Google Analytics account on Eileen Reed’s behalf.  The code is on each page of the site.  Eileen will get a clearer picture of the web traffic with tis tool.

WordPress as a content management system is simple as this:
1. Login

WordPress Login Screen

2. In the lefthand column, click on Pages – then edit for the page to be edited

Edit WordPress Website

3. Make the change in the content box in the center – and click Update on the right hand column.  The page is updated online!  Total self-sufficiency!
